Camelback Mountain

While in Phoenix this January I stayed within eyeshot of this mountain. Every time I stepped outside while at the Franciscan Renewal Center (for a leadership retreat) this mountain beckoned me to run the trails, if I dared.

And dare I did.

These pics are from a hike, an out and back starting at Echo Canyon Trail. It was an intense workout! I was tired, but happy to have reached the summit without injury or running out of water. Glad it was winter!

When I first entered the trail my group was met by a park ranger who warned us of the intensity. Most of my group wisely chose to hang back and return at a good point. Check out the AllTrails guide for this one.
